ScreenSaver · Effective 5 November 2026
The short version
ScreenSaver doesn’t collect any information about you. There are no accounts, servers, ads, analytics or tracking, and I can’t see your screenshots.
Your photo library
ScreenSaver asks for full access to Photos so it can find the screenshots and screen recordings in your library. Everything else in your library is left alone.
It copies screenshots out of Photos on your device. Nothing is removed from Photos unless iOS has asked you and you’ve said yes, and removed items stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
Your library
If you’re signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive on, your screenshots are kept in the ScreenSaver folder in your iCloud Drive, so they appear on your other devices. Only your Apple Account can reach it; I have no access to it. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
If iCloud Drive is off, they’re kept only on your device.
Search
The text in your screenshots is read on your device. It’s saved in a Search Index folder inside your library, so your other devices can search it, and in a search database on each device.
Settings
Your choices in the app, such as the theme, grid and import options, are stored only on your device.
Removing your data
You can delete screenshots in the app, or in the ScreenSaver folder in the Files app or Finder.
Deleting the app removes its search database and thumbnails from that device. Your library in iCloud Drive stays until you delete it, from the Files app or your iCloud settings. A library kept only on your device is deleted along with the app, so move anything you want to keep first.
This website
These pages don’t use cookies or analytics. Like most websites, the service that hosts them may keep standard server logs.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
